Hell hath no fury like a woman in pink and this year’s annual, Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, at Hudsons Field Salisbury brought together an army of over 1,400 women of all ages, from our great City and surrounding areas.
Putting the women through their warm up prior to the start of the race was, Chris Martin and members of the Parkwood Health Zumba team. There were lots of smiles laughter and giggles as everyone stretched out in preparation but also a great team spirit amongst everyone too.
Spire FM’s very own breakfast presenter Martin Starke, introduced a very special guest, 3 year old Harry Tinham; who in his short life has already suffered Downs Syndrome, open heart surgery and battled with Leukaemia.
Harry’s dad Nick said “We hope that the worst is over now”
At 11am, together the Pink Army undertook the 5k course. Some raced, whilst others ran, walked or even danced around some in fancy dress but all with the same aim of raising £95K for research in to all 200 types of cancer.
Cancer does not give a second thought to those of us whose lives it affects but by taking part in this ladies event, money is raised to help find a cure for the disease that can ruin the lives of those affected by it. National statistics show that one in three of us will be affected.
Together these women raced for friends, family and loved ones and at no time did the rain dampen the amazing spirits and atmosphere.
